Nuns on the Run

(L-R) Friends of the Sisters Glenn, Christopher, Zain, Rachel and Rebecca with
Sister Fancy Pants and Reverend Mother Diversity Rains

On an overcast day, the Vancouver Sisters and Friends of the Sisters gathered as Team Nuns on the Run and participated to spread JOY in the annual Pride Run and Walk that kicks off Pride celebrations in Vancouver!  We had a 5K walk team and a 10k run team that started together and finished together.  No Sister was left behind!  This amazing team even won the prize for Best Team Costume!

The Vancouver Pride Run and Walk raised, so far, over $7500 will all proceeds going to Out in School and The LOUD Foundation.  Today's run/walk is organized by the Vancouver Frontrunners.  They are a social and athletics group that offer run/walk training for all levels of run.  Consider joining them on either their Wednesday evening or Saturday morning run.  Over the years of organizing the Pride Run and Walk, they've raised over $90,000 for local non-profits. http://www.vancouverfrontrunners.org/

Out in Schools "is a program that recognizes that media is a powerful tool for social change, as well as a marvelous teaching aid. We use film and video with facilitated group discussion to engage students across BC on issues of homophobia, transphobia and bullying. As an educational outreach initiative, we seek to raise awareness and advance the safety of learning environments for all youth."  http://outinschools.com/

The LOUD Foundation "invests in future leaders of the Canadian LGBTQ community.  We believe that by supporting the development of students who possess drive, vision, compassion and knowledge, we can improve society and increase awareness of our diverse community."  https://loudbusiness.wildapricot.org/

Team Nuns on the Run strive to promote JOY, positivity and freedom of expression in athletics and health.  If you're interested in joining our Team for our next athletic adventure, please email us at info@yvrsisters.ca.
