Tenting For Homelessness Fundraiser - November 11

The Sisters’ upcoming Camp-themed event causes a ‘swell’ of support:
We’re Tenting For Homelessness!

Vancouver’s drag-nun Sisters are at it again...this time pitching tents to help the homeless.

Starting at 7pm on Thursday, November 11th, the Sisters are back and this time it’s going to get campy. In their own unique and fabulous way they’ll transport you back to summer camp with drag-nun flare at the fabulous WISE Hall in East Vancouver. Our Sister Camp Councilors guide you through a fun and interactive evening with activities like alighting your spindle, knot-tying (with a bondage Master), popping a tent (with one hand tied behind your back), and even a Glory Hole-aluliah Confession Booth where you can confess your sins and take your penance. Collect badges, enjoy drinks from the bar and treats from our Aspirants’ Bake Sale. Couple that with David C. Jones and other friends of the Sisters providing roving entertainment and plenty of interactivity and you’ve got yourself a ‘last summer at band camp’ story...without all the messy clean-up.

"For a lot of queer people, summer camp was terrifying," says Novice Sister Merry Q. Contrary, the group's Reverend Mother. "Tenting for Homelessness is our way of queering the camp experience for all who attend. Camping it up with the Sisters will be sure to tickle your fanny, err fancy, and leave you with stories to share by the campfire for years to come," she winks.

The Vancouver Mission of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence – Abbey of the Long Cedar Canoe is the only Canadian Mission of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, an international movement of 21st century queer nuns. The Vancouver Sisters’ mission is to promulgate universal joy and expiate stigmatic guilt. They host a weekly community drop-in on Friday evenings called S'Habit, and are available to attend community events and rallies to lend their support and offer blessings.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Abbey’s community grants fund that supports local projects focused on queers, HIV and homelessness. For more information, visit or email
